How to Disinfect Rainwater for Drinking You can usually drink rain straight from the sky, but if youre collecting and storing it, youll want to disinfect rainwater for drinking and cleaning. Fortunately, there are simple disinfection methods to use, whether you have power or not. This is handy information to know in case youre stuck after a storm without water or youre out camping. The same techniques can be used to prepare snow for drinking, too. Quick Methods to Disinfect Water Boiling - Reduce pathogens by boiling water for 1 minute at a rolling boil or 3 minutes if youre at an altitude greater than 2,000 meters (6,562 feet). The longer boiling time at high altitude is because water boils at a lower temperature. The recommended duration comes from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). If you store freshly boiled water in sterile containers (which can be boiled) and seal them, the water will remain safe indefinitely. Bleach - For disinfection, add 2.3 fluid ounces of household bleach (sodium hypochlorite in water)  per 1,000 gallons of water (in other words, for a small volume of water, a splash of bleach is  more than sufficient). Allow 30 minutes for the chemicals to react.  It may seem obvious, but use unscented bleach since the scented sort includes perfumes and other undesirable chemicals.  Bleach dosage is not a hard-and-fast rule because its effectiveness depends on the temperature of the water and pH. Also, be aware that bleach may react with chemicals in the water to produce toxic gases (mostly a concern with turbid or cloudy water). Its not ideal to add bleach to water and immediately seal it in containers - its better to wait for any fumes to dissipate. Although drinking straight bleach is dangerous, the small concentration used to disinfect water isnt likely to cause problems.  Bleach dissipates within 24 hours.   Why Would You Disinfect Rainwater? The point of disinfection is to remove disease-causing microbes, which include bacteria, algae, and fungi. Rain generally doesnt contain any more microbes than any other drinking water (its often cleaner than groundwater or surface water), so its usually fine to drink or use for other purposes. If the water falls into a clean cistern or bucket, its still fine. In fact, most people who collect rainwater use it without applying any treatment. Microbial contamination of rain is less of a threat than toxins that might be in the water from surfaces it touched. However, those toxins require filtration or special treatment. What were talking about here is pure rain. Technically, you dont have to disinfect it, but most public agencies recommend taking the extra precaution to prevent illness. Ways to Disinfect Water There are four broad categories of disinfection methods: heat, filtration, irradiation, and chemical methods. Boiling water is an excellent method, but obviously, it only helps if you have a heat source. Boiling water can kill some pathogens, but it does not remove heavy metals, nitrate, pesticides, or other chemical contamination.Chlorine, iodine, and ozone are most often used for chemical disinfection. Chlorination can leave potentially toxic by-products, plus it doesnt kill all cysts or viruses. Iodination is effective, but leaves an unpleasant taste. Use of iodine is not recommended when preparing water for pregnant women or people with thyroid problems.  Adding ozone is effective, but not widely available.Irradiation is accomplished using an ultraviolet light or exposure to strong sunlight. UV light kills bacteria and viruses, but doesnt kill all the algae or cysts of pathogenic organisms. Sunlight is effective if the water is sufficiently clear, the light is bright enough, and the water is exposed to light long enough. There are too many variables to give firm recommendations on use of this method. Microfiltration effectiveness depends on the pore size of the filter. The smaller the pore size, the better the filtration, but its also slower. This technique removes all pathogens. Other techniques are becoming more widespread, including electrolysis, nano-alumina filtration, and LED irradiation.

You’ve invested time, energy, and maybe even a little of your sanity into reaching your SAT goal, so it’s totally reasonable to be rattled by this kind of curveball. But before you panic, read this article to troubleshoot some of the most common reasons that SAT scores go missing. I will talk about what to do if you yourself can't find your scores, as well aswhat to do if the college you're applying to says your scores are missing. Either way, most likely, you’re looking at a pretty simple problem with a pretty painless solution. How to Check Your SAT Scores Before we get into figuring out what to do about missing SAT scores, let's go over where your scores can be found if everything is going according to plan. Although usuallySATscores are ready 3 weeks after your test date, because of the test update,scores for next fewtest dates will take longer than usual. For example, the March 2016 SAT scores will take about 10 weeks to score, while theMay and June 2016 SAT scores will each take about 6 weeks to score. You can find your scores in theMy Organizer section of the College Board’s SAT website. If you've tried finding your scores this way buthaven't had much luck, let's go through the possible reasons why. Well, of course this blue panda doesn't know. Why did we even ask it? What to Do If You Can't Find Your Scores There are a number of reasons why your scores might not be showing up on the College Board website. Let's investigate together. Are You Looking in the Wrong Place? If you can you see only your most recent SAT score, and are missing scores from earlier test dates, you might be on the wrong section of the SAT site. To see all the SAT tests you’ve taken recently: Go toMy Organizer. Click SAT Scoreson the left side menu. Click Access My Scores in the middle of the screen. Enter your username and password for the security check. Scroll down past the "My Test Registration" box to get to the "My Test Scores" box. Are Your Scores Not Ready Yet? If you are checking less than 3 weeks after your test date, you will most likely not see your score listed because it takes 3 weeks for the College Board to score your SAT. Also remember: if you took the test in March, May, or June 2016, your scores will only be available after 6-10 weeks. If it's been 3 weeks since your test, you didn't take the test in March, May, or June 2016, and you still don't see your scores, your test could have been flagged for more attention.Scores may be released later for all sorts of reasons, usually to do with resolvable answer sheet problems. For instance, your answer sheet could have arrived late to the College Board. Or it could have had either missing information or you could have filled it out slightly differently than your registration. If your test falls into this small group offlagged tests, you will see a message tellingyou to check back later. Just headback to the site on the recommended date- usually about a week later- to check again for your scores and to see your full score report. Wouldn't it be sweet if the SAT website responded to passive-aggressive watch-tapping and eye-rolling? Did Something Unusual Happen at Your Testing Site? Think back to the day of your test: did anything weird occur? Scores can also be delayed if something out of the ordinary happened. For example, if inclement weather closed the test site or if you were sick or need to reschedule your test, your scores will be released after the test day scores. Or maybeyou or someone else reported a complaint about testing conditions or the test center itself. If the College Board got a complaint about something that went wrong on the day you took the test, your scores could be delayed while thecomplaint is investigated. Well, we did have to complain about the noise from that one kid's art-copter... does that count? Are Your Scores From a Long Time Ago? If you're out of high school and your test scores are more than a year old, they won't show up online any more. Instead, you have to request them from the College Board's archives for a fee. You can order scores by mailby sending anArchived Score Report Order FormtoSAT Program, P.O. Box 7503, London, KY 40742-7503. You can also call Customer Service at(866) 756-7346. What to Do If Your College Doesn't Have Your Scores Sometimes it's not you, but your college, that can't find your SAT scores. Soif you've gotten the alarmingletter, email, or phone call telling you that your application isn't complete, let's work through the possibilities. Did You OnlySend in Earlier SAT Scores? If you choose to use the 4 free score reports you get with SAT test registration, you have to re-select the colleges you want the reports sent to each time. Otherwise, they won't get the more recent scores. In other words, if you retake the SAT this fall, the 4colleges you named on last year's registration wouldn't automatically get your new results unless you listed them again. Are Your Scores Missing From Your Application? Imagine the immense amount of paperwork and electronic records that admissions offices deal with during application time. Because of this sort of chaotic atmosphere,colleges may have alreadyreceived your scores but just haven't processed and logged them yet. Filing your scores in with your application can take as long as a week! To see if this is the case, you should feel free tocall the college’s admissions office and calmly and respectfully ask them to double-check whether they've gotten your scores. Just remember that it's best to wait about three weeks after you send your scores before calling. Still, sometimes things doget lost in the mail, misfiled, or electronically derailed. If the admissions office really can't find your SAT score report, don't lose your head. Instead, order a new score report from the College Board website as soon as possible so that you getit in as close to the application deadline as possible. Pro tip: whatever you do, don't simply sendthe collegea copy of your score report. This is not official and will not count as a score submission. Is it weird that this is how I picture admissions offices after application season? Disasters Do Happen, but Don't Panic! Now that we've gone through the most common, most likely, and most solvable scenarios, we can move on to the highly improbable and darn near unbelievable.Sometimes tests go missing because of sheer ludicrousness.But if such a freak incidentdoes occur, a reasonable and equitable solution (sometimes helped along by some press coverage) is sure to follow. For example, your testing site could have simply boxed upyour answer sheets and forgotten about them. This iswhat happened in Loudoun County Schools in Virginia for the test administered May 2nd, 2015. Luckily, the tests were eventually found and the College Board scored them through an expedited process. Or, your test booklet could have had a timing misprint that totally messed up the scoring process. That's whathappened to everyone in the country that took the SAT on June 6th, 2015. The College Board is offering to waive fees on retests for anyone who didn't make it through the incorrectly labeled sections. Just imagine the story you'll get out of it, if this happens to you. My Educational Philosophy A teacher, according to Webster’s New College Dictionary, is one who â€Å"imparts knowledge or skill.† In truth, however, the responsibilities of a teacher ascend far beyond this formal definition. For many year teachers as a whole have guided and molded each generation, thus have guided and molded the future. Being part of such a grandeur undertaking serves as ample motivation for entering the education field. Teaching will give me the opportunity to take part in one of the institutions that America prides herself on: public education. I will contribute to the goal of providing everyone, even the most disadvantaged, with an opportunity to acquire knowledge and better him or herself. I will help to pass on our culture, values and knowledge to the next generation. As an aspiring elementary school teacher, I also find motivators on a smaller scale. Working with children will teach me about myself and help me to continue my own learning throughout life. It will also provide me with an opportunity to impact many students’ individual lives. In my opinion, all students have an inherent desire to learn, some simply have yet to find it. It is the primary responsibility of the teacher to find this flame in children and then fuel it in the classroom. Because of this, elementary school teachers have many important decisions to make about the classroom and what will take place in it. With some limitations, teachers basically design their own classroom. I think the first step in successfully teaching children is creating a rich learning environment. The physical environment of the classroom is very important. As a teacher, I plan to decorate my room with bright colors and themes... ...lunge into the teaching profession I will not set into stone my current beliefs. By keeping an open mind, I will allow my experiences to guide me. I hope to not only, â€Å"impart knowledge and skill to others,† but also to help create self-regulated learners who can continue to learn and adapt throughout life. 1. Good Practice in Human Resource Management (HRM) Based on an interview with Graham Walton, Library Service Development Manager at Loughborough University ExFiles FOLIO Course – January 2007 2. Graham’s Current Role Graham is the Library Service Development Manager at Loughborough University. He is responsible for overseeing the quality /evaluation of library services, marketing and publicity, developing new services, training staff as well as human resources. 3. Main Functions of HRM HRM is about â€Å"getting the right people with the right skills in right place†. It is crucial that Library HR processes meet the strategic aims of the organisation. The HRM manager has operational responsibility to follow wider organisational policies and practices. 4. Graham’s HRM Responsibilities Graham oversees the appraisal process of all library staff. This involves the development process, monitoring progress, collating final outcomes and identifying any training needs. Graham is responsible for all human resource aspects of non-academic contract library staff. This involves seeing the HR process through from start to finish: e. . writing job descriptions and person specifications, interviewing, selection, induction, de-briefing of leaving staff etc. Graham is also heavily involved in staff development and devising training programs. 5. How has Graham acquired HRM skills? Variety of ways including: One-year HRM course as part of an MBA. Internal courses on recruitment and selection. Learning through experience: â€Å"getting on with it†. Appl ying common sense. 6. Key challenges of HRM Workforce development – staff are now expected to learn new skills on a regular basis. Need to think about how you enable your staff to do this. Organisational Structure – need to think about the best way to configure this. What is the best way for people to work together? Need to allow opportunity for people to easily step out of their teams and work with others. Culture Change – this is a universal challenge and libraries are not necessarily the best-equipped at dealing with this. This is perhaps the most difficult challenge as culture is intrinsic and deep-rooted. Work/Life Balance – how do you match flexible working needs with providing services? 7. Success Factors for Effective HRM If the following 5 factors are in place, you should have effective HRM: Follow organisational policies and procedures. Exercise Fairness – make all your decisions based on evidence. You must be able to justify all your decisions should you need to defend any of them. Attention to detail – lots of things relating to HR that you need to remember and stick to (e. g. start dates, holiday entitlements etc). Awareness of individual differences – you need to know your staff individually and be aware how different people will react differently to situations. Open-door policy – you need to be approachable and always be ready to drop everything should someone come to you with an HR issue. 8. In what way does an effective HR manager influence their staff? An effective HR Manager: Leads by example – if you expect your staff to show certain characteristics then you need to show them yourself. Be open, fair and transparent in your methods at all times. Ensure that your staff feel valued and important within the organisation. Ensure that other managers realise that they all have a responsibility for HRM – for example a team leader must take on shared responsibility for the staff development of colleagues in their team. 9. Is there anything particularly unique to library and information service HRM? Most HRM issues are generic to all organisations, whether commercial or not-for-profit. One issue that is perhaps not common, is that libraries have the â€Å"professional vs. on-professional† debate. This can cause tension and conflict, meaning that some staff do not reach their full potential. 10. Innovative HRM Practices Two things we are trying/considering at Loughborough University which we have not tried before: A pool of temporary part-time staff that we can call on at short notice to reduce the strain on existing staff during periods of annual leave/sickness. Holding recruitment open days – this would involve placing an open advert inviting people to come to the library on a certain day. Library staff would then â€Å"speed-interview† all those attending and from this it would be decided who would be invited back for further interviewing. 11. How do you see your involvement in HRM evolving in the future? The aspects to focus on in the next few years will be: Staff skills mix/workforce development and how HR can move this along. There will be even greater pressure for increased flexible working and working from home. At present, it is unclear how this will manifest itself in the Library.

Rear Window; Alfred Hitchcock

After watching Rear Window for a second time I’ve come to realize that not only is Alfred Hitchcock a great director, but also a great movie watcher. What I’m trying to say is that he knows exactly what people want to see in certain movies. Voyeurism captures the attention of anyone, viewers want to â€Å"spy† on the characters without being seen, and they want to be in positions that reality doesn’t allow them to be in. Hitchcock knows this feeling all too well, making one of the greatest movies of all time around that one obsession viewers have. This is why Rear Window is a great movie for ENC 1102, along with the romantic tension and multiple subplots. The first time a saw the movie I really didn’t see the voyeurism of the film, mostly because it was in my high school humanities class and was told to figure out the story behind the thriller. The teacher told us to find out the mystery of Mr. Thorwald. But after refreshing myself of the movie a noticed that Hitchcock was a very smart, nosy man, just like the rest of society. I pictured Hitchcock in the wheelchair watching all those people out of his window, and then myself and came to realize that anyone would watch if it were open to you. This led me to recognize that the movie, behind the crime investigation, was all about voyeurism and how people love to see without being seen. I watched it with my brother, who is a film major at UCF, and he too thought the same thing. We discussed the movie afterwards and he came to appreciate the movie for being shot in one area. The one person that does get to live the voyeurism in the movie is James Stewart. He’s the perfect main character, L. B â€Å"Jeff† Jeffries, who is a photojournalist. While on the job he broke his leg at an auto race after a big crash. Because of this he is confined to his own apartment and begins to watch all his neighbors and how they go about their day. Behind his building is a courtyard joined by three other buildings. Throughout these three building are different characters that Jefferies watches. There’s a frustrated yet fun loving composer in the building to his right, a middle aged couple with a small dog, a dancer who seems to enjoy practicing her routines, a lonely woman who seems to live in a fantasy world, and a salesman and his unfounded wife all in the building in front of him and a pair of isolated newlyweds that live behind the shades of their apartment window to his left. As he sits cooped up in his apartment he begins to notice everyone’s behaviors, when suddenly the salesman’s wife has disappeared. Jeffries and his girlfriend, Lisa Freemont, played by Grace Kelly, become suspicious of the salesman Mr. Thorwald. He begins to watch him every day and notices things that make him that more suspicious, like sending a suitcase off somewhere, having all his wife’s jewelry, or washing the knife and saw in his sink. Where did she go? What's in the trunk that the salesman ships away? What's he been doing with the knives and the saw that he cleans at the kitchen sink? Rear Window was released on August 1, 1954 and was shot in Los Angeles, California. Its company is Paramount Pictures and is in full color and sound. It is listed under many different types of genres like crime, mysteries, thriller and romance. It was nominated for four Oscars, best cinematography, best director, best sound, and best writing. It was nominated in nine other categories at smaller award ceremonies and won four of them. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock and had two main characters, L. B Jeffries and Lisa Freemont. Though the movie is one of the greatest ever made by Hitchcock and is supposed to be shot through a rear window, I find it hard for people to have interest in a movie with two main shots. In the movie you see the buildings and courtyard the majority of the time, the other shots being the one of Jeffries apartment and close ups on the individuals in their homes. A user from IMDB. com didn’t like the movie at all, â€Å"I got impatient with Hitchcock's penchant for manipulating reality, as if it didn't matter, in setting up his character conflicts towards suspenseful endings. It's all to do with believing what you see. One should not take for granted any audiences, all of whom are familiar with real life. † (Johnclark-1). Mr. Clark went on to talk about how he felt Hitchcock didn’t bring reality into the film, one of the examples being that in New York no one ever left their doors unlocked and windows open, in fact â€Å"we installed police locks† says Clark. So another reason some people didn’t feel this movie should be ranked as one of the greatest all time. But we go back to voyeurism, and people can’t help but be nosy, and get into other people’s business. Because of this one obsession Hitchcock gets you tangled in subplots and thrilling murder stories. Unless you pay close attention and watch for those unrealistic moments in the movie, you will never even notice them. As I sat and watched the movie never did I think about what people in New York really do with their doors or how often their leave their windows open. What I’m trying to say is that you will never notice these things unless you were told about them prior to watching the movie. I must admit, after reading that review I did see those moments in the film, but never did I think about them when I saw it the first two times. I am more than positive that if you show this in an ENC 1102 class they too will not notice the unrealistic lifestyle in the movie. Another couple reasons to show it in ENC 1102 is because of the voyeurism, romantic tension, and the films multiple subplots. If there is a group of people that love to be part of drama, and know everyone’s business, it’s the age group of 18 to 20 year old college students. They will be so enriched with all the inquisitiveness going on in the movie that they won’t have problems for a week or two in their personal lives. The movie provides an insight on all the characters that live in buildings around that courtyard, and a voice over from Jeffries that voices his thoughts on all their lives. That brings me to my next point, the multiple subplots in the movie. Hitchcock gives the viewers all kinds of stories from the romantic couple who are rarely seen, to the bachelorette ballerina who brings home a guy every night, to the women who can’t get a man and begins to make believe she invites one over for dinner. Another couple with the dog, they show love to each other through the dog, then the musician who throws parties to show off his new music, but struggles just to get there and finally the salesman and his wife, the main story, the murder. Hitchcock develops all these plots that revolve around murder case. They all have something to do with it, or are related in some way to that couple. I don’t believe an 1101 class could keep up with multiple plots as in Rear Window. And then there’s the romantic tension between Jefferies and his girlfriend Lisa. It’s just another part of the movie that anyone could relate to, not just 1102. Jeffries is very intrigued by this woman but has a heavier burden on his mind, the crime across the courtyard. She insists time after time, but he never really takes his mind completely off the situation at hand. As I sat a watched Rear Window for the second time with my brother I asked him a couple questions throughout the movie to get his, soon to be, expertise on what he thought about certain parts. It was a good experience for me knowing that he has a better eye for things that regular movie goers like myself usually don’t tend to catch. He helped me understand the movie a little more, and discussed with me what Hitchcock was trying to do in his film. Even though he’s close enough, my brother doesn’t count as a critic, here are some experts on what they thought about the movie. James Berardinelli liked the movie mainly, once again, because of it voyeurism. He though Hitchcock had a great background on voyeurism, â€Å"One of the most engrossing, and, in its own way, groundbreaking, studies of voyeurism is Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window. The film is universally regarded as a classic, and a strong cadre of critics and scholars considers this to be the director's best feature. †(Berardinelli p. 1). He goes on to talk about the movie and its suspense, but also the great main character played by James Stewart, â€Å"Not only does the movie generate an intensely suspenseful and fascinating situation, but it develops a compelling and memorable character: L. B. Jefferies, a top-flight photographer who, as the result of an accident that left him in a leg cast. (p. 1). Another praise on the movie comes from Christopher Null; he too thought the movie was a classic. The aspect of the movie that caught his eye was the way Hitchcock made it all from a rear window, â€Å"the master craftsmanship on display, placing virtually the entire film within the confines of L. B Jeffries apartment has few parallels in modern cinema. †(Null p. 1). He too agrees with me on another aspect of this great film, helping it to be one o f the all time greatest, not only for Hitchcock but for all movies. And finally my last critic is Lucia Bozzola, who liked the film for its one main shot, â€Å"Keeping the camera in Jeff’s apartment (except for a couple shots near the climax), Hitchcock limits the audience’s view to what Jeff can see and hear from his immobilized perch. †(Bozzola p. 1). Even though I thought this could be a problem for some viewers, it is still a great feat to shoot close to an entire movie on one main shot; another reason why Rear Window is one of the greatest. So after reading all the reviews from the critics and getting diverse answers from regular movie viewers, a person who has yet to see the film should see it for themselves and decide on what they think. As for showing it to either an 1101 or 1102 class, I think it should be seen by more mentally mature young adults in 1102. Primarily due to the voyeurism in the movie, watching all different characters I think they could keep up with it more. This is why Rear Window is a great movie for ENC 1102, along with the romantic tension and multiple subplots. All of the elements are perfect (or nearly so), including the acting, script, camerawork, music (by Franz Waxman), and of course, direction. The brilliance of the movie is that, in addition to keeping viewers on the edges of their seats, it involves us in the lives of all of the characters, from Jeffries and Lisa to Miss Torso. There isn't a moment of waste in 113 minutes of screen time. †

Erie Brotherlinesss ecological theory in child development suggest that five levels of the environment simultaneously influences us as children. Frontbencher believes that we cannot fully understand the phenomenon of continuity and bio-psychological characteristics of a child without considering how we are influence by each level of our environment. The 5 levels he mentions are, Microsystems, Microsystems, Ecosystem, Microsystems and Chronometers (Feldman 2011). I grew up on the island of Montmartre which is a British territory, where the environment helped shape who I am today, I moved to the united states when I was 13 years old, where I realized that life there was much different than what I was accustom to, for I no longer had the support from the community and family members I had grown so accustomed to. This is why I found Brotherlinesss biological approach so interesting because it reminded me Just how much I had lost and how much I had achieved. The particular time period In my childhood that I would like to discuss in this essay is when I was about 10 years old. I chose this time period due to the fact that this was a time when life changed for my family and me in more ways than one, in some ways positive but in many ways negative. The most serious Impact on my life occurred at the age of 10 years old, which I will be discussing in detail further on in this essay. According to my reading the Microsystems is defined as the everyday immediate environment in which we lead our lives. (Feldman 2011). In my case the immediate environment at that time were my friends, teachers, brothers, and the community, they were part of the long-term Immediate environment In which I placed my trust, other temporary Microsystems that came and went are athletic clubs, boy scouts, and church, through those Microsystems I got a chance to build relationships, built various skills, and I also learned how to socialize through personal experience. At about age 10 1 developed a love for track and field and went on to win numerous medals In school which Is a personal success story of mine. In this period in time I could remember my family was close, but at the same time, having regular arguments and fights, I thought thing of It at the time, for I would Join the arguments to defend my mother in particular. I didnt have a father In my life so my mother was the one that took care of me, not having a father in the picture was not a good experience for me, I think this is why I was so close with my mother. My brothers I could remember were always there willing to teach what they knew, there were times when I wanted to be like my older brothers. I was younger than they were but we would socialize Like we were friends we, had a good relationship, through my brothers I learned how to act in school, all of those social interactions were crucial to my development. My family had the same problems like every other family but I felt protected surrounded by them. My mother and grandfather were always arguing, I would try to defend my mother of course. At age 10 1 could remember going to school, I was already tough because of what I learned from my brothers, I got in all sorts of fights with the other students but 1 OFF around. The teachers in the school were strict, they were allowed to use corporal punishment, so I would often get punished for not doing homework, fighting, and arioso other reasons. My peers at the time from what I could remember were tough. My community I would describe as been close, the community demanded respect, I could not pass someone without saying good day or good morning or I would be punished. The Microsystems refers to all the settings in which a child personally interacts and is influenced, so in my case my Microsystems are family, athletic clubs, and children in the community. All of those personal social interactions are what influenced me at the time, and which, makes up one of the 4 system of Brotherlinesss which is the Microsystems. According to the reading the Microsystems provides connections between various aspects of the Microsystems, the Microsystems binds children to parents, students to teacher and friends to friends (Feldman 2011). When two Microsystems come together, they form a Microsystems, most time a unique and positive experience is created, but other times you have confusion and stress on the child. My mother had minimal interactions with my peers but when my peers would come to my house she would interact with them, she had different rules in the house so there were often confusion, for example no eating n the living room, and no swearing in the house, this was due to the fact that two Microsystems came together creating a rift between acceptable behavior. She was very involved in my school affairs, she knew most of the teachers personally so she interacted with them on a regular basis, I would go as far as to say she was friends with a lot of the teachers at the school, all of the teachers were from the community, I couldnt hide exam results, or if I failed to do my homework the teachers knew her personally so they would call her. By bringing teacher and my parent together a ecosystem was created, the interaction between my parent and teacher showed me that they were interested in how well I was doing in school and was united in making sure I did my best. My mother was particularly strict and persistent when it came to me doing my homework, she would stay up all night if she had to, to help me with my homework and if I didnt do my homework and she found out I would be punished. I was involved in athletics throughout my school life and the community would be there to cheer on the children, so they were very engaged in our sports activities, because the community was small everyone knew each other personally from searchers, members of the community and friends, we all had a type of bond linking us together, if one person died we would all feel it. I would say that the Microsystems had a positive influence on me because it provide me the social support and consistency in practically every activity I took part in at that time. If I am correct my ethnic heritage is afro-Caribbean, am affiliated with the Christian church. At 10 years old I was not too familiar with what was going on in the rest of the world, there were murmurs of war overseas, but I was only 10 it didnt register to me or mean anything to me at the time. At that time I was influence by the Christian religion and the church, for my mother was adamant about us going to church every Sunday. According to the reading the macro system represents the larger cultural influences on an individual for example society, types of government, religious and political value system and other broad, encompassing factors are part of the macro system religious beliefs, or political views which are part of the macro system. According to my reading the Ecosystem represent broader influence, encompassing social institution such as local governments, the community, schools, places of worship and he local media (Feldman, 2011). My mother was the secretary of the secondary school on the island, I do not think I took any vacation at that age, my mother was a single parent and was never married, and there was no father in the picture. I could remember when my mother my went away for a long time and I had to stay with friends and relatives, I had to live under a set of different rules I felt that the love that I had from family around me no longer existed, things changed for that time period I didnt have my peers, or teachers around, this created confusion and I became assistant. I would say the single historical event that effected my development at that time was the volcanic eruption that destroyed my island. When the volcano erupted everything changed, my school life was over, a lot of the influential people left the island, and my school was transformed into a shelter, so I was forced to leave for the United States. According to my reading the chronometers involves the way the passage of time historical events affect ones development (Feldman 2014). Due to the eruption I had to live under different rules, go to a new in school, find new friends ND live in the new household, I became a different person due to that event.
